EU Institute for Security Studies

Site with studies about the EU Common Foreign Security Policy, including terrorism. Most interesting are the studies called Chaillot Papers written by academic scholars

   

EU, Justice and Home Affairs

Site of the European Union, contains all treaties, green and white papers. Also contains summaries of the most important treaties and agreements. It furthermore includes information on all Judicial institutions (Eurojust, Europol EAW etc.)

   

Eurojust

Information on Eurojust, an EU organization which coordinates investigation and prosecution on cross-boarder crime including terrorism.

   

European Parliament

Site of the European Parlement, with information on current situation, members, and opinions.

   

Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)

Site of the OECD which offers comparable statistics, economic and social data of 100 countries and economies. Reports of economic implications of terrorism can be found as well, for example: "Terrorism Risk Insurance in OECD Countries".

   

United Nations Treaties

Site containing an overview of UN-treaties. Especially interesting is the link to the United Nations International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism.

   

Council of Europe CODEXTER

This site contains information and working documents of the Committee of Experts on Terrorism (CODEXTER). Most of the documents are public and on the website are grouped according to the meeting. Some documents are available in both English and French.

The Center for Public Integrity is a non-profit organization dedicated to producing original, responsible investigative journalism on issues of public concern. The Center is non-partisan and non-advocacy.

   

Challenge Liberty & Security Research

The Challenge project, like TTSRL, is a Framework 6 (European Commission) scientific research project. Its central focus is the balance between liberty and freedom, including the area of (counter)terrorism. The organization consists of research institutes and universities.

   

CRIMPREV

CRIMPREV is a fellow Framework 6 (European Commission) research project. It focuses on assessing deviance, crime, and prevention in Europe

   

European Civil Liberties Network

ECLN is founded by Statewatch and has articles on various topics regarding civil liberties in Europe. It is especially critical of the European Counterterrorism policy and intelligence agencies.

   

The Federalist Society of Law and Public Policy Studies (US)

Site on studies regarding law and policy of the US government.

   

Information Warfare

Information Warfare is an important part of terrorist activity. This site focuses on several aspects of this phenomenon, the book that triggered the site includes several chapters on terrorism.

Site of the Dutch safety and intelligence agency, containing annual reports information on the agency.

   

Federal Bureau of Investigation

Site on the FBI (US). Current activities and investigations.

   

MI5 (UK)

Informative site giving background information on the agency and the threats they are countering.

   

National Coordinator for Counterterrorism (NL)

Site of the general counterterrorism organisation (part of Dutch government) which tries to improve the cooperation between twenty agencies in the Netherlands involved in combating terrorism. The site offers press releases, speeches, reports and policy documents on terrorism and counterterrorism.
